A COASTAL CAPE COD WEDDING AT THE WEQUASSETT RESORT AND GOLF CLUB IN HARWICH, MA

As the owner of “For the Love of Paws,” an agency that provides Wedding Planning Pet Services, Danielle and I met in 2017 on a wedding editorial with adoptable puppies, featured in Style Me Pretty. We instantly bonded over our love of animals and ending up collaborating on another editorial with puppies from two different local rescues shortly thereafter. 

We had such an incredible time working together that when she asked me to plan her wedding in 2018 I was so excited! I also knew that if her fiancé was half the animal lover that Danielle is, puppies had to be included somehow!  

It turns out that Danielle and Nick are the definition of puppy love! These dog lovers met when they were 14 years old on Cape Cod. Though they only saw each other during summers, the two stayed friends until they inevitably fell in love. When Danielle moved to college, she also moved closer to Nick. Four years after they started dating, Nick proposed on the same beach where they met, making Cape Cod the perfect place for them to say, “I do!” 

I began the morning of the big day by organizing some of the fun little details that turn a wedding into the event of the year. I just loved styling this elegant wedding stationery by Simply B. It even included a dreamy watercolor map of Cape Cod.

And speaking of Cape Cod, Wequassett Resort and Golf Club overlooking Little Pleasant Bay was the ideal location for this “coastal classic” August 2019 wedding with its ocean-inspired color palette. 

Guests and the wedding party were welcomed to the resort with a custom calligraphed sign before enjoying the luxe amenities that Wequassett Resort has to offer.

Danielle and her bridesmaids wore adorable matching nightshirts and sipped mimosas from stemless wine glasses, both items personalized with their names, as they got ready for the big day. Their hair was curled to beachy perfection by Katie Shaw Hair while Stephanie Ward applied glamorous, yet understated, makeup. 

The bridal suite was buzzing with excitement as Danielle got into her dress, an elegant V-neck gown by Rebecca Schoneveld with a gorgeous overskirt and a tulle cathedral-length veil by Tony Federici.  

We just loved watching this beautiful moment between Danielle and her Dad the first time he saw her in her wedding dress. We may have been tearing up as well!

The bridesmaids wowed in gowns by Jenny Yoo in various shades of pale grey. Their luscious bouquets full of whites, creams, and shades of green by Beach Plum Floral were reminiscent of the Cape Cod beach where Danielle and Nick got engaged.

Nick looked dapper in his classic black suit and tie while the groomsmen wore grey suits that complemented the bridesmaids. 

Once they were ready, the Danielle and Nick had their “first look,” which included their beloved pups who were also decked out for the occasion.

It was such a sweet, private moment for the two of them to share shortly before they would officially become husband and wife!

Danielle and Nick were married in a traditional Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Wellfleet. What was not traditional about the ceremony were the ushers. Because their dogs play a very special part in their lives - they were there when Nick proposed to Danielle! - the pups escorted members of the bridal party down the aisle. 

Since they are such animal lovers, Danielle and Nick teamed up with a local shelter and had adoptable puppies as special guests at the wedding reception. They snuggled up to the wedding party and other attendees during pictures. At one point Danielle replaced her flowers with a bouquet of puppies! And the best part of all? Since the wedding, every single puppy has found a home with their new forever family.

The wedding party finished up pictures out on the expansive lawn at Wequassett Resort and had such a fun time hamming it up for Lauren Dobish Photography. Then it was time to party!

To kick off the cocktail hour, I designed a custom 24-foot driftwood wall featuring 200 glasses of champagne that doubled as an escort card display. Beach Plum Floral did such an amazing job bringing my vision to life and adorning it with the most stunning floral design. It encouraged everyone to “Sip & Be Seated.”

Our team made sure that every detail at Wequassett Resort was considered, down to the matching grey cloth napkins and runners. Tables featured lush green garlands with timeless white roses, an array of candles, and elegant table numbers calligraphed by yours truly! Each guest took a part of the ocean home with them in the personalized sea glass pieces that were placed at each seat.

For the reception, Danielle removed her elegant overskirt to reveal a more party-ready wedding look, a unique take on the “second dress” trend. It also made it easier for her to dance the night away to the sound of Siagel Productions!

After sharing their first dance as husband and wife and listening to the heartfelt toasts from the maid of honor, Danielle shared a moment with her dad during a sweet father-daughter dance that made us swoon. Nick and his mother impressed us all with a mother-son dance worthy of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

Danielle and Nick finished out the night by cutting the watercolor four-tier wedding cake by Soul Cake Shop, before sealing their love with a kiss!

But that wasn’t the last treat for the evening. Guests were sent home with a pretzel as a cheeky way for Danielle and Nick to thank everyone for helping them “tie the knot!” This was such a picture-perfect event, that it was featured in The Wedding Chicks, The Knot, and Carats & Cake.
