MAURA + JOHN
A CHARMING, BRAE BURN COUNTRY CLUB WEDDING IN THE BOSTON SUBURB OF NEWTON, MA
When I met Maura + John, they had just recently gotten engaged and wanted to plan a quick celebration with their closest family and friends. This was our first time at Brae Burn Country Club - it is quite a charming space! They set the date for November and their day could not have been more perfect.
On the morning of November 23, 2019, our team attended to some final details, like styling this gorgeous wedding invitation suite for Maria Burton Photography. Meanwhile, Maura + John got ready in the Bridal and Groom suites, on opposite sides of the Country Club. I just loved the grand staircase. It provided a beautiful setting that was perfect for pictures.
Pearl earrings are always a chic choice for a bride, and these Badgley Mischka heels complemented Maura’s beaded clutch perfectly.
In their matching pajamas, the bridesmaids in black and Maura in white, the bridal party sipped on mimosas as they were pampered by Beauty Boston Artistry. Maura also gifted her closest friends with monogrammed Yeti travel mugs in the wedding colors.
As she donned her romantic long-sleeved lace Everthine Bridal gown, Maura and her mom shared a sweet moment that was particularly poignant. Maura’s dad had passed away shortly before the wedding. Though he couldn’t be there to walk her down the aisle, Maura had wrapped her blue, blush, and white rose bouquet by Beach Plum Floral in one of his favorite ties, so he’d be with her in spirit.
In his classic black tux, John looked so dashing, Though he stays far away from social media and considers himself to be a humble guy, he looked every inch the Hollywood leading man on his wedding day.
Before they headed to the church, Maura + John enjoyed a first look and took advantage of the waning autumn sun as they walked the grounds of the Country Club. As John swept Maura in for a kiss, he dipped her ever so slightly - so romantic!
We always love a late fall wedding and the bridesmaids looked beautiful in their black full-length gowns, matching the groomsmen’s tuxes.
After formal pictures were done, the wedding party was ferried to Our Lady Help of Christians in Newton, where traditional bagpipes announced their arrival. Wearing a cathedral-length veil, Maura made her way to the altar, while John watched with a huge smile on his face.
With their vows said it was time to return to the Country Club to celebrate!
Calligraphed place cards by Haley Tyson Designs were secured to the framed escort card board with dusty blue Artisaire wax seals. This special touch welcomed Maura + John’s guests in a personalized way and helped them to find their seat.
The floral runner at the head table featured pink and white roses, along with blue delphinium. Dozens of dusty blue taper candles in delicate chimney hurricane holders glowed throughout the venue. Matching table clothes and white and blue table runners brought the theme together and we made sure that every place was set with a pressed glass water goblet.
To once again commemorate the memory of Maura’s dad, the head table had been set with a bottle of his favorite beer, making sure he was well represented on the most important day of her life.
After making a grand entrance to much applause and sharing their first dance, Maura + John cut their Wedgewood inspired wedding cake, crafted by The Icing on the Cake.
With the party in full swing, the evening’s entertainment, Young Love & the Thrills, looked to be having as much fun as the guests!
Congrats, Maura + John! Thanks for letting us be such a special part of your big day!
